OUR MISSION STATEMENT -
"The mission of the Georgia Veterans Day Parade Association of Atlanta, Inc., is to honor, support and thank all who have served and are currently serving in our Military. We accomplish these goals by hosting the Nation's largest Veterans Day Parade, promoting the truth that freedom is not free and exhibiting the belief of freedom through service.”
This Veteran’s Day, our nation is again reminded of the tremendous sacrifices endured to ensure America’s freedom. Our Veterans have bravely and proudly carried the burden of defending this country by their honorable service during war and peacetime. And for that, there are no words to express our gratitude.
Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines have all given their time, and many times their lives, to protect our freedoms. They answered the call when our Nation needed them most. And now they deserve our honor and respect. We invite you to take this opportunity to say thanks.
Since 1981, volunteers from veteran groups, active duty Military and civic minded community members have been staging a Veterans Day Parade in Atlanta. We invite you to join us.
The 2011 Veterans Day Parade will be on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at 11:11 am in downtown Atlanta. With the 70th Anniversary of Pearl Harbor and America’s entry in the World War II occurring this year, we are honoring the Greatest Generation and the World War II Veteran.
Actors James Madio, who portrayed Sgt. Frank Perconte, and Ross McCall, who portrayed Cpl, Joseph Liebgott, from the critically acclaimed HBO TV mini-series “Band of Brothers”. In continued support of our Veterans, both serve on the board of the WW II Foundation (www.wwiifoundation.org).
CURRAHEE!
Several years ago we began holding a black tie Ball on the evening of the Parade, which gives us an opportunity to enjoy the fellowship of our Veterans and a motivational speaker. This is a much anticipated night with great food from Wolfgang Puck catering, the swing era music by Les Still Swinging Band, fabulous Silent Auction fundraiser with limited military ceremonies, and great camaraderie and fellowship. Master of ceremonies continues to be Wes Sarginson of WXIA-TV Atlanta "11Alive”. The 2011 Freedom Ball will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at 6:00 pm at an exciting and new venue, the Oceans Ballroom of the Georgia Aquarium. Tickets still available.
Our thanks to the continued support and generosity of the Military Order of the Purple Heart Service Foundation, Inc. and Colt Manufacturing whose help makes these the best Veterans Day events ever.
CAN WE COUNT ON YOUR SUPPORT?
We encourage you to join us as we honor our active Military and Veterans. Should you or your organization want to be in the Parade, copies of the necessary forms are available on our website.
Our sponsorship program offer many opportunities to assist us with our efforts. Every dollar raised or donated goes towards the increasing costs of parade insurance, related fees, and the many expenses associated with the Veterans Day events. Without your support and partnership in this great endeavor, we will not be successful.
Enjoy photos from past parades, which are on our website and join us for this exceptional celebration for all Veterans.
